Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Now Official

Android 2.3 GingerbreadGoogle have today officially announced the release of the latest Android 2.3 update better known as Gingerbread.

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update includes a number of updates and tweaks to the popular mobile platform including a new User Interface, UI, NFC support, a new keyboard, new text selection tool, improved gyroscope sensitivity, improved copy/paste and best of all added VoIP/SIP support.

Google have also announced a new Smartphone handset in their Nexus range, the Nexus S. The Nexus S will feature a dual-core processor, 16GB of internal memory, a 4-inch touch-screen display, a front facing camera, and ofcourse the Android 2.3 software.

Android 2.3 is the latest in a long line of Android updates and is the fastest version of Android yet. With added support for Near Field Communication (NFC), and an improved keyboard UI with multi-touch support, the Samsung Nexus S will be the first phone to be powered by this new software.

The Samsung Nexus S will feature:

The Nexus S will be available in the UK from December 20th from The Carphone Warehouse.
