Vodafone Reduce Mobile Broadband Top Up Allowance From 3GB To 2GB

Vodafone PAYG Top-up OptionsVodafone have this week announced that as of February 1st 2011, customers using their Pay As You Go Vodafone mobile broadband service will find that they only have a 2GB top-up option as opposed to 3GB which is currently available. The price will remain the same as before.

In effect, Vodafone are introducing a price increase to their PAYG service, with many customers already venting their frustration at this stealth price increase.

According to a Vodafone statement, the reason for cutting customers down from a 3GB to a 2GB top-up option is because at present 90% use less than 2GB.

We’re changing how much UK data you get when you top up your pay as you go mobile broadband by £15. This change will begin on 1 February 2011 — and we’re making it because 90% of our customers use less than 2GB of data each month.

From 1 February 2011, a £15 TopUp will give you 2GB of UK data for 30 days. There’s every chance you won’t notice the change — but if you’re in the 10% of pay as you browse customers who use 3GB of UK data a month, you’ll simply need to top up a bit more regularly to keep benefiting from our award-winning mobile broadband.

Yeah right… the allowance is cut by a third, yet the cost remains the same. Bloody outrageous.

WTF, i use less than 1gb a month, the whole reason i used this dongal is because the credit didnt run out each month. I logged on today to see my £10 credit at zero? whats happend to the contract i entered into when i purchased it? They havent even told me of any changes???

    bye bye vodaphone.

  4. vodaphone are absolute scam artists for reducing their mobile BB allowance from 3G to 2G per month. The excuse they use is pathetic. I shall never use vodaphone again.

  7. caroline says:

there is only that changed their’s, there £15.00 and 3gb has remained the same or £10 for 1gb. o2 and t-mobile have done the same has vodafone

  8. karl anders says:

I switched from vodaphone to three due to this as with three you get 5gb per month on a rolling contract allthough be carefull not to go over your limit with three as they charge a shocking 10.2p per MB!

In fact this reduction did not happen until August 1st 2011. I very rarely exceeded 2GB but am annoyed that I can now not view some videos in case I run down my 2GB allowance too early.
It’s pretty lousy not reducing the cost slightly, to reflect this reduction
