White iPhone 4 Delayed Spring 2011

Apple fans who are waiting for the release of a white version of the iPhone 4 smartphone will be disappointed to hear that the company has delayed the launch of a white handset until spring of next year.

The standard black iPhone 4 first launched back in June of this year, with the white model first delayed until July, then to end of this year, and now it seems to early 2011.

“We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again,” Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller. She declined to explain the delay.

During the many official announcements for the white iPhone, Apple have never said exactly why the white device has been so difficult to produce, commenting only that the white model was “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected.”

There has been a lot of speculation about the possible causes of the delay on many Apple-focused blogs. With explanations ranging from colour-matching issues, to a problem with the handset’s backlight.

Overall iPhone unit sales were up 91 per cent to 14.1 million in Apple’s most recent financial quarter, a total sales value of $8.6 billion.
