A relative newcomer to the UK mobile broadband market, 3 first began offering internet services in the United Kingdom from 2003 and launched their mobile broadband service in August 2007.

In 2008, 3 signed a deal with rival network T-Mobile in order to combine their 3G access networks in order to improve their UK coverage and service quality.
